The UK remains the top study destination for Pakistani students. In 2026, the Student Visa process has specific requirements around CAS letters, financial proof, and IHS payment that every applicant must understand.
What is the UK Student Visa?
The UK Student Visa (previously Tier 4) allows you to study full-time in the UK at a UKVI-approved institution. As a Pakistani student, you’ll need a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) from your university before applying.
Documents You Need
Your passport (valid throughout the course), CAS number and details, English language test results (IELTS or equivalent), financial evidence (bank statements covering tuition + living costs), ATAS certificate if required for your subject, and proof of accommodation.
Financial Requirements
You must show funds for the first year of tuition (if not already paid) plus living costs of £1,334/month for studies in London or £1,023/month outside London for up to 9 months. The money must be held for 28 consecutive days ending no more than 31 days before your application date.
Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS)
All Student Visa applicants must pay the Immigration Health Surcharge upfront. In 2026, this is £776 per year for students and £388 for children under 18. This grants you access to the NHS without additional charges.
Credibility Interview
Some Pakistani applicants are called for an interview at the UK Visa Application Centre. This tests your genuine intent to study. You should be able to clearly explain your course, why you chose that university, how the course fits your career goals, and your plans after graduating.
